Baku is a city of many wonders, beauties and lights! You can hardly ever get tired of it and the cityscape is something that has inspired and challenged many photographers and artists.
I and my husband (especially!) find that there’re many spots in Baku that offer amazing, breath-taking views over the city. Even if you’re just visiting for a day, you should check at least one of them out. The cityscape is a wonderful mixture of modern buildings and beautiful traditional architecture. Past and present have found a way to co-exist along each other, providing beautiful pictures of contrast and a specific exotic atmosphere.
So, without further ado, here are five spots in the city from which you can take some marvelous photos and enjoy a splendid view over the city.
1. Maiden Tower, Old City
The Maiden Tower is one of the most emblematic sights in Azerbaijan and it’s also included in the UNESCO World Heritage List of Historical Monuments. It is located in the Old City of Baku (Icheri Shekher) and offers a spectacular view over the minarets of the Old City. While you climb the Tower from the inside, you will be able to explore the museum, find out more about its history, and get yourself a beautiful souvenir from the gift shop.
The Maiden Tower is, by far, the best spot for a good view over the Old City of Baku.
2. Martyrs’ Lane (Shehidler Khiyabani)
Martyrs’ Lane is another must-visit sight in Baku that offers a marvelous view of Baku’s coastline.
This was one of the first places that we visited in the city after we arrived here two years ago. We still use to go there pretty often, especially on spring and summer days when the wind isn’t as strong.
3. TV Tower
There’s a rotating restaurant located on top of the TV Tower in Baku that, as you can imagine, offers one of the best (or probably – The Best) views over the whole city.
It’s located very near to Martyrs’ Lane, so you can combine the two experiences together. Prices are high, but bearable. There’s a beautiful tunnel at the entrance to the Tower which prepares you for the sparkling lights of the city once you get to the top. If you cherish a good view – this is the place to go to. Go there in the late afternoon or early evening in order to witness the amazing sunset and night lights of Baku.
4. 360 Bar
This is a revolving bar at the 25th floor of Hilton Hotel, located in the center of the city. It’s the place to be for a refreshing drink, delicious dessert, or even some sushi. The food and beverages are perfect and the view is fantastic, to say the least! The huge, clean windows provide a perfect view of the city all around you.
You can’t feel bad at this place! It’s created to satisfy all your perceptions: comfort, sight, taste!
5. Ferris Wheel
Feeling adventurous and hungry for a bit of adrenaline rush? The Ferris Wheel of Baku (also known as the Baku Eye) is offering an exciting experience along with a breath-taking view towards the city. It is located on the Seaside National Park of Baku and is 60 m tall. It’s suitable for families with kids and you can even enter with a baby stroller inside the cabins.
Enjoy your time in Baku and don’t forget to share your favorite places in the comments below.
I would love to visit the 360 Bar! I haven’t been to any place that revolves. ????
